The Liberty Place landmark was headed out in pieces around 5:35 a.m. Monday. Just a solid base remained. The Liberty Place landmark is a 1891 monolith respecting the Crescent City White League, which endeavored to topple a biracial Reconstruction government in New Orleans after the Civil War.
